Jan A. Heybroek

CEO and Founder

With 30 years of senior leadership experience in life sciences, Jan brings MDoutlook clients extensive expertise in healthcare business and strategic marketing, ThoughtLeader identification and activation, consulting and insights. Jan is a recognized leader, an innovative and strategic thinker who intimately understands clients’ strategic and tactical needs, and recognizes how to best serve these with effective and efficient solutions. He has managed and overseen more than 1,000 client projects in his career, and to continued client praise. Jan leads the team of MDoutlook to deliver actionable precision intelligence and SaaS solutions with Lumineer™, Orienteer™, Activeer™ and Pulse insights.

Prior to establishing MDoutlook, Jan spent 5 years in increasing leadership positions at Imedex, an accredited medical education company. As President, Jan integrated the acquisition of The American School of Oncology with Imedex into one organization focused on producing global continuing education, and was part of the AmerisourceBergen leadership.

Previously, Jan led a team of consultants at Cambridge Pharma Consultancy, a subsidiary of IQvia. As Engagement Director, Jan provided international strategic consulting to pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the areas of M&A, licensing, and marketing strategy. He was Consultant for Robert Pino & Company in the Netherlands, a subsidiary of Berenschot, focused on product strategy and responsible for establishing its healthcare practice. Jan started his career as Project Manager with Altana in the sales of cardiovascular products before joining Organon as International Product Manager. At Organon, Jan was responsible for the commercialization of psychiatry products, and directed the global launch of Remeron leading to $1b+ in annual sales.

Jan holds Master’s degrees in Medicine from University of Amsterdam, Business Administration and Business Informatics from Rotterdam School of Management / University of Michigan. He resides in Atlanta, GA. Jan is active on the board of several organizations, including Entrepreneurs Organization Atlanta.

Ian Pike

EVP, EU Life Sciences

Ian is an accomplished commercial professional with business development, sales and marketing and marketing research experience forged in a global environment. With more than 25 years healthcare experience, Ian has a strong focus on strategy, consultancy, customer-centricity, satisfaction and implementation where he established long lasting business relationships with clients representing pharma, med-tech and hospital settings.

Ian’s work has included assignments across many therapeutic indications involving consultancy to client strategic & tactical planning with impactful intelligence and research gathered across healthcare professionals, payers, patients and other key stakeholders; guiding patient-centred strategy direction and value propositions; implementation of educational and supportive patient solutions; behavioural profiling and digital health.

His grounding also stems from working across other sectors particularly the consumer market sphere including international consultancy in societal trends/forecasting, psychological profiling, branding, messaging etc (amongst an array of research focused exposure) for major companies (automotive, beverage, fmcg, technology & retail), ad agencies and PR firms. Ian has worked for a number of firms including GfK, NOP, Market Measures, Roper Starch, AGB / Kantar and Maritz.

Ian brings his diverse knowledge, understanding and a holistic viewpoint to enrich, add value and drive CX excellence across all MDoutlook client interactions. “Longevity breeds experience but your last project measures your success!” is core to Ian’s philosophy which strongly captures the spirit, mindset & culture of the professionals he is proud to work with at MDoutlook and why we enjoy a high retention of loyal clients. Joshua Davis

Joshua M Davis serves as Executive Vice President of US Life Sciences at MDoutlook. A veteran life sciences sales executive and entrepreneur, Joshua is responsible for new business as well as growth and development in current accounts.

Joshua brings MDoutlook extensive expertise in healthcare business and strategic marketing, as well as ThoughtLeader engagement and organizational partnership in both the global pharmaceutical and biotech companies, and the US hospital/health system sectors.

Joshua was the founder of Spirit of Women LLC which he successfully guided from inception in 2000 to sale in 2015. Spirit of Women was an integrated healthcare communications company focused on supporting women as the healthcare decision makers for the family. Throughout its existence, Spirit of Women has worked with over 350 leading US hospitals and health systems and over 25 global life science companies with a primary focus on Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopedics and Primary Care.

Joshua holds an MBA degree from Case Western Reserve University, and a BA from Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

Robert Stephan

SVP Research & Operations

Rob has over 25 years-experience in biomedical research, quantitative and qualitative market research, CME program development and execution, and strategic management. Rob provides each MDoutlook client with a unique perspective of intimately understanding the disease area researched and understanding the unmet medical needs and issues impacting treatment decisions.

He has a deep knowledge of disease intelligence and market research, and successfully directs the Research, Medical Services and Operations teams to answer clients’ strategic questions through efficient use of multichannel intelligence assets. Rob additionally has experience with medical marketing campaigns, corporate communications strategy, finance, and brand development. Prior to joining MDoutlook, Rob served as a Medical Program Manager at Imedex, where he first worked with Jan.

In addition, Rob has been involved in biomedical research in Hematology, Oncology, and Immunology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center and at Loyola University Chicago. In addition to extensive experience with all-types of live and enduring CME activities, Rob’s expertise in biomedical research underpins his understanding of the medical issues surrounding each therapy area, leading to a different perspective to market the strengths and advantages of each client’s offerings. His work in the field is also a great advantage in ThoughtLeader and physician identification and relationship building.

Rob has also led both new initiatives and re-organizational efforts in a number of different settings, leading to both cost and process improvements.

John Kane

SVP, Strategic Development

John is an experienced bio-pharmaceutical professional who understands the importance of customer relationships and the impact that insights have on strategic decision-making. His many diverse experiences have helped him manage a wide-array of project initiatives – with expertise in global bio-pharmaceutical and device marketing, market research, business intelligence experience. 

Specific areas of interest and experience include loyalty and customer relationship management, e-Business strategies and solution development, master data management, data integration, project management and clinical investigator management. With over 30 years of pharmaceutical and healthcare industry experience – including 20 years in market research – and with a career that includes both client-side (Merck and J&J) and supplier (IMS and GfK) roles, John has brought his 360-degree perspective to many initiatives. 

Delighting his clients by exceeding expectations is John’s focus. To ensure such an outcome, he believes in communicating routinely, clarifying his clients’ business issues and challenges, providing progress and status updates, and delivering the solutions that meet their specific objectives. John holds in BA in Economics from Villanova University and resides in Pennsylvania.

Justin brings his deep knowledge and understanding of oncology strategy with a key focus on delivery excellence and is keen to work with you to maximize your learning opportunities. Justin has an MBA from Open University in UK, and a BS from University of Liverpool.

Melanie Marks

With 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry, Melanie Marks has led hundreds of commercialization projects – including consultative, quantitative and qualitative in nature. For more than 10 years she worked on the product management side launching many of the industry’s major brands. This provides her with a unique perspective on client needs which results in clients getting to the true answers they are seeking. 

Melanie has extensive experience facilitating and moderating qualitative market research studies with healthcare professionals, payers and patients covering nearly every therapeutic category and healthcare topic – both domestically and internationally. She is experienced in the entire range of interview formats, including one-on-one, telephone, video-con and focus groups. 

Melanie holds a BS from US International University and a Masters of International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management. She has worked in the pharmaceutical industry in the US, Europe and Latin America.

Ludger Boecken

Executive Director, Medical Analysis

With 20 years of oncology experience from the clinical side as physician, in hospital financing and in pharmaceutical market research, Ludger is uniquely positioned to deliver balanced insights from multiple angles for MDoutlook clients. For more than 13 years Ludger has been deeply involved in commercial and market research data handling and analysis.

Ludger joined MDoutlook in 2015. Leading the research and analysis team, Ludger successfully manages production and timely delivery on the various project types MDoutlook offers. Ludger’s main focuses and passions include the development of complex data analyses and data modelling, delivering insights towards our client’s questions on a deep and data-driven level. Ludger also enjoys optimizing visualization of deliverables to enhance insights and impact.

Having practiced as urologists for 11 years, Ludger has deep personal experience and insight into the clinical world. A large portion of his clinical career revolved around genitourinary oncology, including systemic therapy. Ludger utilizes his medical background extensively for projects and connects to physicians easily.

Following his clinical career Ludger spent several years in hospital management tasked with the introduction of the DRG system for three hospitals. In 2005 Ludger and his family moved from Germany to the United States. He spent the following years establishing a charity in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina and managing a small business in the transportation field. Ludger resides in Atlanta today.
